· TAIWAN TOWER DESIGN COMPETITION ·

Reaching a height of 350 metres, the Taiwan Tower project has a historical purpose to signify the importance of Taichung City after announcing as the third municipal position after Taipei and Kaoshiong. Other than the tower itself it also houses an exhibition hall and a government office. The tower is overwhelming huge compared to its surroundings and has a sized green belt attached to it which emphasizes its existence even more. Sitting on a seismic zone, the tower has to be able to withstand strong earthquakes and a major focus of the project is to make it structurally feasible. In contrast to traditional towers that people mainly take shuttle lifts to the top, this one takes a slow ride and uses escalators in addition to the lifts.
